PET PSA – Is the pavement too hot for their paws?

PET PSA – Is the pavement too hot for their paws?

I wanted to take a minute to speak on a serious subject that is often overlooked, our pets’ paws on hot asphalt / concrete during warmer weather.

As we move into summertime, I would like all pet parents to think about the ground our pets walk on. There is a simple test in which you can check whether the pavement is too hot for your pet’s paws by doing the 7 Second Test. Simply touch the pavement with the back of your hand for 7 seconds. If you can’t hold out for the full 7 because the surface is too hot, then it’s also too hot for your dog’s paws.

The air outside may be pleasantly warm, so you think there’s no risk that your dog’s paws will get burnt BUT the ground can be much hotter than the surrounding air as it absorbs the sun and heat very quickly. Please remember to use the 7 Second Test the next time you take your pet outside for walk. Take care of your pets and as always, please reach out to me our our team if you have any questions on our natural peptide products for pets (linked HERE).
